SUE WALKER
Painter
My paintings are mostly landscapes and coastal scenes inspired by the
East Anglian countryside, Mediterranean visits, sailing trips and travels
in the Far East and South America. My choice of subject matter is often
decided by my emotional response to the mood and colours of the scene
and I try to include the complex rhythms, textures and colour harmonies
of nature that are my inspiration. The paintings are based on direct
observation and I aim to convey a sense of the mood and atmosphere of
the location. I paint mainly in acrylic, or mixed media including acrylic
and collage, but also enjoy using watercolour and exploring new ideas.
I live and have my studio in the Cambridge area. I have exhibited with
galleries across East Anglia from Cambridge to Manningtree, held several
solo and joint exhibitions and have also exhibited with Cambridge Open
Studios since 2000. My pictures are in collections in the UK, France,
Germany and the USA.
