Sue Rapley is a Cambridge-based artist who has developed an individual
style, creating vibrant original paintings inspired by a love of the
natural landscape, and further afield to the sea. Working in a variety
of media, she creates vivid images capturing the essence of being
within the landscape. With an intuitive use of colour and gestural
strokes of the palette knife to express movement, her paintings convey
to the viewer the ever-changing beauty and vitality of the landscape.
The sea and water continues to be a dominant theme in Sue’s
work, drawing inspiration from different locations – the Norfolk
coast to Cornish waters and overseas to tropical islands. From many
water studies she has produced a collection of more abstract artworks,
which explore her response to movement, light and reflections.
Sue is an Art & Design BA (Hons) graduate, and a member of Cambridge
Open Studios, and the Cambridge Creative Network. She regularly exhibits
at galleries and art events across the region. Sue’s work is
available at The Darryl Nantais Gallery, Linton, and various Cambridge
shops stock her greeting cards. Sue’s clients include both private
and corporate collectors.
As well as producing her own collections of paintings, Sue works
on commissioned pieces too.
