Artist's Biography

Jane Buch

I have always been passionate about painting. Working in different mediums such as pastel, watercolour and acrylic gives me creative freedom and the opportunity to explore my art. My inspiration comes from the lovely views surrounding my home, the colours and textures of the landscapes and flowers. I am also fascinated by people and enjoy capturing an individual’s personality.

I love pastel painting because of the exuberance and vibrancy I can achieve by blending on textured paper in rich colours. Many of my ideas can simply come from a photograph this will give me a starting point for a painting.

In contrast I find watercolour a freer medium, which enables me to be more spontaneous in my painting. I like to work on location this allows me to reflect the light and mood of the surrounding countryside. Using large watercolour brushes often on a wet surface keeps the paintings lively and fresh and gives a sensitive approach.

When working with acrylics on canvas I have incorporated collage to enrich the textures and create a more dramatic impact. This lends itself to a more contemporary style.

I studied Fine Art on a Foundation Course and then went on to achieve a H.N.D in Graphic Design at Barnet College. As my children have grown up I have pursued my painting career and have exhibited in local art exhibitions and galleries. I have also accepted commissions for my work.
