Andy Curry
With a background in interior design the majority of Andy’s paintings
are interiors within which he likes to examine the quality and plays
of light that create the mood within a given space.
He likes to paint looking straight into the light or show the dramatic
effect of shafts of light entering the confines of a room. His landscapes
are usually based around the atmospheric conditions of sunrise/sunset
with low sunlight casting long and textural shadows, or misty mornings.
He paints entirely in watercolour, initially laying down large merging
wet washes to determine the source of light and the foundations for
the mood and atmosphere. Working back from the 'light' the defining
forms are gradually overlaid in stronger but at the same time unifying
colour.
Andy's background in Interior Design and Architecture means that he
illustrates for Architectural practices and also paints to commission
for private clients.
