Spring Exhibition – 8th March
until 19th April 2008
Preview 7th March 6pm to 10pm
Featuring Ophelia Redpath with others
Ophelia Redpath
has shown her work extensively in London, Scotland, Paris and Cambridge.
A local artist who works from her Cambridgeshire home, she is a highly
dedicated and talented individual who very much enjoys her subject,
which is clearly evident in her work.
For the last 20 years Ophelia has supported herself with these exhibitions
and over this period her style and medium have gradually developed.
Beginning her career with designs both abstract and decorative in
various media, including gouache, ink, collage, she has slowly moved
towards a more figurative approach where people and animals have become
her main focus of interest. Now she specialises in genre scenes of
people where their eccentricities, tastes, occupations, moods and
relationships are recorded with deeply vivid colours in oil on canvas
or paper, and oil pastel and gouache on paper. Recently Shakespeare
has been her main inspiration, resulting in off-beat interpretations
of quotations from his plays.
We will also be showing a selective collection of work by; Dylan
Izaak, whose fun cartoon style images are very popular; Leila
Solomon, who specialises in modern and richly worked textile panels
and cushions; incredible life like, serene figurative prints by Ian
Faulkner; landscape oils by Darryl Nantais
inspired by the local landscape; Janet
Rogers’ uniquely textured works on paper and Leigh
Hunt’s beautifully impressionist style landscapes and flowers,
all of a very personal and local nature.
